My drawings explore complex questions of land, home, and the psychological and environmental impacts of expansion in the West.

Working with graphite pencil over oil paint, I work from photographs I take of locations that strike me emotionally—creating a manufactured landscape where multiple viewpoints of a location are used and recomposed on top of each other.

The color of the painted surface is derived from colors I observed in the landscape and is created with multiple layers of oil paint that provide luminosity and texture upon which the drawing can interact.
